STAYING IN VILLA ATAS AWAN

STAYING IN VILLA ATAS AWAN

Each retreat is different. The girls are unique, the hosts may be different, and the accommodation is picked especially for each retreat. On our March 2018 Bali retreats we stayed in a villa just 20 minutes North of Ubud, in the midst of the Balinese rainforest.

Since we enjoyed our stay so much, and had such an incredible time at Villa Atas Awan, we wanted to share this experience with you!

Staying in Villa Atas Awan

For our two Bali retreats Pangea Dreams checked into Villa Atas Awan. The villa has 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and a beautiful layout surrounding two infinity pools. You can imagine our excitement as we walked around the villa looking for places to shoot!

The villa consists of two 'treehouses', each with 3-4 bedrooms. The pool separates the two treehouses, and the bridge in between was one of our favourite spots to photograph! With the Balinese rainforest in the back and the beautiful gardens of the villa in the front, there was no angle that could make you look bad!

The rooms at Villa Atas Awan

As mentioned, there were 7 bedrooms in the villa, each with direct access to a bathroom. They were double bedrooms, some with single beds and some with a double. All beds had gorgeous 'princess-style' mosquito wrappings surrounding them, making you feel like you were going to bed in a castle like a true royal.

Every night the staff would turn down the room for the evening, which included surrounding the bed with the mosquito nets, making the room look fit for a queen.

The open layout of the villa means that every bedroom leads outside. Because of this, you will fall asleep to the sounds of the rainforest outside, and there is no better meditation app or white noise machine. Each girl shared how well they were sleeping in the villa, mainly due to the super comfortable beds and the sounds of nature surrounding you.

If you are a fan of a nice outdoor bathroom (Bali must specialise in them!), you'll find the most magical outdoor shower in Villa Atas Awan. In addition to a massive indoor bath tup with major views of the surrounding rainforest, one of the bathrooms of the villa boasts a stunning shower - perfect for photo shoots!

The service at Villa Atas Awan

We couldn't be happier with the lovely staff helping us out every day in our Bali home. Cooking us 3 meals a day, keeping everything clean and tidy, and ensuring we had everything we needed at all times. They really made the experience amazing, and we were so grateful to them all.

Did we mention that the villa had 24 hour security? Another perk that reminded us of how incredible the staff were. This also meant we had someone to call when a frog managed to find it's way into one of the bedrooms while the door was left open!

The shooting locations at Villa Atas Awan

As mentioned above, we loved the bridge between the two treehouses of the villa (see the video below for a better understanding of what we mean). In addition to this, and to the outdoor bathrooms, there were countless of extremely Instagrammable areas in the villa, which will become clear to you if you head on over and follow them on Instagram. There were the infinity pools (of course), the beautiful gardens, the porch areas (complete with a hammock!), and even the road in front of the villa turned out to be an epic shot!

So, in addition to all the reasons we love Bali, Villa Atas Awan definitely makes the list. The friendly staff, beautiful bedrooms and epic scenery surrounding it (we are talking rice field views on one side and rainforest on the other) all made it the perfect pick for us.

We couldn't have made a better choice, and are so happy with our time at Villa Atas Awan. I mean, looking at this video; can you blame us?

THE BALI RETREAT 2018 - @FJORDSANDBEACHES' EXPERIENCE

THE BALI RETREAT 2018 - @FJORDSANDBEACHES' EXPERIENCE

In this post, Lisa from @fjordsandbeaches shares her experience and memories from the Bali retreat in March 2018!

I first heard about Pangea Dreams in Spring 2017, when one of my favourite Instagrammers, @katgaskin, went on the Nicaragua retreat. I was intrigued, and spent ages watching her stories and seeing all these lucky women learn and explore in paradise, finding new accounts to follow, and thinking that this looked like such an epic time!

I quickly started following Pangea Dreams, and made sure I was on the email list, hoping that maybe one day I would go on those retreats.

This was around the same time that I started working towards my goal of becoming a full-time travel blogger, and I spent the next few months watching the Pangea Dreams community grow, and spending every waking hour building my blog and business. By autumn, I handed in my notice, and started planning my 2018 adventures!

I really wanted to spend some time in Bali after having heard so much about it from other travel bloggers and digital nomads. So I booked myself a one way ticket the week after leaving my job in February 2018. I spent the rest of the autumn and winter preparing for my big move, and trying not to worry whether I had made the right decision or not.

Then I got an email from Pangea Dreams!

Perfect timing

Tracy sent out an email to the email list with information about the upcoming Tulum retreat. At the bottom of the email it said something along the lines of "We also have some amazing retreats coming up in 2018, such as Cambodia in February, Bali in March and Mexico in May. Send us an email for more information."

My heart stopped! Bali in March. I was gonna be in Bali in March! I felt like this had to be a sign, as I had been growing more and more determined to join a Pangea Dreams retreat in the months that had passed since I first discovered them. I quickly scribbled a reply asking to be kept in the loop on the Bali retreat, assuming that it was too early to sign up and that the exact dates surely couldn't be decided yet.

But they were, and I got a super exciting reply with all the details I needed to make my decision! This didn't take me long, and I asked to secure my spot immediately. I was so excited, and couldn't believe the timing!

I would leave my 9-5, spend a month working on my blog and enjoying the sun in Bali, before joining the Pangea Dreams retreat in Ubud! I was ready to learn ALL the skills I needed to run my online business, perfect my photography skills, and really take Fjords and Beaches to the next level.

We are heading back to Bali in October for another retreat! JOIN US!

A whole new world of support

The Bali retreat was everything I hoped for, and more. It was hosted by Tracy, @lisahomsy and @samkat, in the prettiest villa I have ever seen. I was both nervous and excited in the days leading up to the retreat, and was so happy to hear that due to the Balinese holiday 'Nyepi', we would all be arriving at the villa a day earlier than planned.

Nyepi is the Balinese Day of Silence, and there should be no transportation, work or electricity used on the island. The day is meant for silence, relaxing and reflection, and getting to spend this day getting to know all the amazing women on the retreat was such a fun surprise!

We all bonded instantly, and I am so proud to call these women my friends and supporters today. We are all there for each other, and give each other advice, tips and tricks along the way. We even share job leads with each other, and I am forever grateful to Pangea Dreams for creating this community.

Nailing my Instagram feed

The workshops during the retreat were great, and covered topics such as personal branding, reaching out to hotels, Lightroom editing, creating a media kit and photography. The latter was a particular godsend, as I had a fancy camera that I had been using on automatic for over 6 months! Sam taught amazing workshops on understanding the settings, how to shoot in manual, and how to compose the perfect photo!

I now proudly shoot in manual only, and know exactly what I am talking about when I discuss the camera settings or the lighting situation I am shooting in!

Furthermore, I was really hoping to perfect my Instagram feed. I felt like it was missing something, and I couldn't really figure out what that was. So Sam had me round up some of my favourite Instagram photos, and proceeded to tell me EXACTLY what I should be doing with my camera settings and editing in order to achieve my 'dream look'.

1000's of dollars in content creation

In addition to the workshops, we spent lots of time playing with our new camera skills by shooting each other, staging professional photoshoots and having our photos taken by our in-house photographer Sam. I left the retreat with so much content, and was in awe at how many amazing, professional photos I now had of myself and the group. It's been 2 months since the retreat and I still haven't posted all the photos!

Seriously, I would have had to pay a professional photographer thousands of dollars for that, and I couldn't believe all the value I left the retreat with.

We spent time exploring Bali, and were introduced to the hosts' favourite places. I am now hooked on taro lattes and coconut ice cream, and know that I have to make my way back to Bali pretty soon in order to get my fix.

Bucket list hotels & bonding experiences

The most incredible day, as agreed by everyone I believe, was the day that started with the sunrise hike to Mount Batur. I wasn't particularly looking forward to the 2am wakeup call (I left my 9-5 claiming that I would never set an alarm for the rest of my life), but once we were all geared up in our new leggings (the goodie bags were amazing!) and ready to go, it wasn't as bad as I had expected.

The hike up the volcano was challenging and incredibly special. I have never before hiked in the dark, seeing only what the flashlights could show us, and it was a unique experience. We supported and pushed each other, and when standing at the top with these girls I knew that the experience had brought us so much closer.

When we got down from the mountain, it was time to head to an experience that I was very much looking forward to. The Kamandalu had invited us all to their Presidential Suite for the day, and were even preparing their Insta-famous floating breakfast! Seeing the pool of the suite for the first time was incredible, as this was a place I had been eyeing on Instagram for so long.

Pangea Dreams @samkat180320-180320SDK-159.jpg

The day didn't end there, and after our incredible time at the Kamandalu it was time to see the rice terraces that Bali are so known for. This meant another costume change and more photo shoots, and by the time we were back at our villa we were exhausted and giddy with all the amazing experiences from the day.

In short, the Pangea Dreams retreat changed my life in so many ways. I really got to hone in on my skills and take my content creation and photography to the next level. I met and connected with inspiring women who I will forever call my friends, and I can't believe how easily we all bonded in just a week. That really is some of the magic of Pangea Dreams.

After the retreat I feel so much more confident in everything I do, much because I now have a whole safety net of women who support me and understand my struggles better than anyone else. My new media kit looks epic, and I am really proud to send it out to brands I want to work with, as opposed to feeling scared and nervous as I did before the retreat. I have seen the efforts my favourite Instagrammers put into their feeds, and now truly understand what it means to be an influencer!

If anyone is considering the retreat, I couldn't urge you enough to just do it! I never regretted the investment, and left the retreat knowing that the value I was taking with me was worth 10 times the cost of the retreat! I would do it again in a heartbeat.

HOW TO TRAVEL SUSTAINABLY

HOW TO TRAVEL SUSTAINABLY

Arti joined us in Bali for the March 2018 retreat, and here shares her top 5 ways you can travel sustainably!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of booking a vacation to a sunny, beach destination. As you prepare for your trip, you envision white sand, blue water, and miles of pristine beach. This was the image I had in my head prior to leaving for Bali for the Pangea Dreams Retreat. After touring around coastal towns like Seminyak and Canggu, climbing Mount Batur, and strolling around Ubud, the reality of what tourism does to a country was really made apparent. While some parts were exactly as I had hoped, others were littered with garbage to a shocking degree.

I couldn’t believe that in the remote passes of the Mount Batur volcano, empty plastic water bottles were tucked into rock crevasses, and on the beaches of Canggu, toothbrushes, plastic water bottles, plastic straws, and just junk littered the beaches. Mounds of plastic water bottles and garbage would be sitting on the side of the road in Ubud, with even more floating in sewage along the street.

As a tourist, not only do you get to soak in the vibes of the place that you are visiting, but you do have a social responsibility when it comes to helping preserve the environment. Here are five ways to travel sustainably that you can implement on your next trip!

5 WAYS TO TRAVEL SUSTAINABLY

1.     Refuse the Straw

One of the biggest polluters of the oceans and beaches are plastic straws. For something that is used one time, for one drink, for one person, the impact of its life after-use is massive. Here’s an alarming stat: every single plastic straw that has ever been used in the history of the world is still in existence today. Scary, right? Not only does this pollute the environment, but it has horrible effects on marine life. Sea turtles have been found with straws impaling their bodies and nostrils, whales have been found with stomachs full of plastic straws, and small fish are known to nibble at the straws as they break down into micro-plastics, meaning they end up in our food.

What You Can Do:

While a lot of Bali restaurants use bamboo, paper, stainless steel, or glass straws in place of plastic ones, there are still a ton that don’t, and globally, thousands upon thousands that don’t. Be proactive in protecting our precious oceans and actively refuse a straw every time you order a drink. Better yet, carry your own bamboo or stainless steel straw with you, to enjoy your beverage in a sustainable way.

2.     Carry Your Own Utensils

Like with plastic straws, plastic cutlery is one-time use. This means that similarly, you enjoy your meal and the cutlery that was used for maybe 30 minutes is now subject to an eternity on this planet. Airplanes are super wasteful nowadays where they’ve replaced metal utensils with plastic ones. Many fast food joints, takeaways places, or street food stalls give you plastic utensils to use for your meal. These utensils end up on beaches, in the ocean, in the stomachs of marine and land animals, and most alarmingly, as micro-plastics in our food.

What You Can Do:

Many people have started carrying their own bamboo utensils with them when they travel. Having your own utensils with you means that you drastically reduce your own ecological footprint, as well as prevent those many more one-time use plastic utensils from ending up on beaches and in the ocean. The travel utensils that are available are sustainably made, packaged in cute pouches, and take up very little space in your bag.

3.     Eat Local

When traveling, it’s always amazing to check out the local cuisine and indulge in fare from the country you’re in. Often times, eating the same thing over and over again on your trip can get repetitive, so switching it up to incorporate some of the other restaurants that are around is great. Many restaurants are chains that are present all over the world, and the ingredients are flown in, in order to preserve the taste they’re known for. This is especially true for island nations that struggle to provide travellers with flavours that they're accustomed to but that are hard to find on the island. This isn’t always the best practice, as the ecological footprint of that food is extremely huge. Additionally, local farmers and growers lose out, and often have to abandon their farms as demand for international chains grow.

What You Can Do:

Support restaurants and cafes that specifically mention their commitment to sustainability, locally-sourced ingredients (we guarantee the food tastes insanely better), and the local farms that they buy their produce from. There’s definitely a growing demand for transparency, locally-sourced, fresh ingredients, and support of local people, so as you travel, keep an eye out for these kinds of cafes, or look them up prior to traveling.

4.     Refuse Animal Cruelty

When you say animal cruelty, most people agree that they would never support it. The problem is that animal cruelty can be masked in ways in which you don’t realize you’re supporting it, or in ways where you don’t realize that the animal is experiencing pain. In many developing nations, especially in Asia, indulging in experiences like elephant riding, is massively popular. The tour guides try to tell you that the elephants are trained for this, that they don’t feel pain, and that they’ve been used for hundreds of years as a mode of transport. The reality is that while they have culturally been used for transport, taking tourists around and around all day in chains is not their idea of fun. Most times, these animals (camels, elephants, horses etc) are treated very poorly and suffer a great deal of pain. Even if you are not actively riding the animal, going to a park or grounds for another activity that has animal riding on site, is a form of support. In Bali, Luwak coffee is quite popular, but a terrible thing to support as the animals are caged, force-fed, and treated awfully. Monkeys that are made to perform, bears that are forced to dance, any animals kept in cages, birds in confinement – all of it is simply for profit, without the animal’s well-being in mind.

What You Can Do:

Refuse to support any organization or tour package that supports any sort of animal entertainment. Be conscious of your behaviour, and despite what the locals might say, assess the situation for yourself. Make a personal oath to stop riding any animals in confinement, because undoubtedly, this is a form of torture. Refuse entry into places like SeaWorld or places where animals are made to perform. Be cautious of visiting zoos in Asia, as their standards are exceptionally low. And beware of products being sold that have used animals in their production. Opt for sanctuaries, certified organizations and orphanages, but do your research beforehand to ensure these places are legitimate, and not money-grabs.

5.     It’s All About the Simple Changes

Making an impact on the world can be as small as changing a habit that you do, rather than a full-fledged global movement. When we stay in hotels, we’re so accustomed to having fresh towels every day, a change of linens, and new bottles of water replaced in our rooms. While this might feel like the luxury we don’t get at home, we have to recognize just how wasteful this is. A new towel and new sheets every day means a TON of more laundry for the hotel to do. This means more water wastage, more electricity used, and more emissions sent into the world. The replacing of plastic water bottles in our hotel rooms every day means that the oceans get to receive more plastic pollution.

What You Can Do:

Many hotels now only replace your towels if you leave them on the floor. Re-use your towel when on vacation, as you would at home, and perhaps leave a note for housekeeping to not replace your bed linens. Don’t grab the water bottle that’s on the nightstand, and instead, carry your own reusable bottle and fill it up in the dining room, or from a fill station/water fountain. The small changes add up, and soon, you’ll be thinking in a more conscious way. There might be other things you notice that your hotel does that’s not sustainable, and by refusing those things, you’re becoming an active agent of social change.

Traveling sustainably doesn’t have to mean changing who you are and the experiences you have. By becoming aware of your consuming habits, you’re changing the impact you have on a place. There is no higher form of respect for this planet and for another nation than by leaving it in the same or better state it was in when you found it, and in order to visit places with those pristine beaches in mind, your actions will help preserve them.

WHY WE LOVE MEXICO

Comment

WHY WE LOVE MEXICO

With our two Mexico retreat locations, it's not a secret that we absolutely love Mexico. If our sold out retreats in Tulum and Puerto Vallarta aren't proof enough, this blog post will do the trick. There are countless beautiful destinations in Mexico where you can relax under a palm tree, explore Mayan ruins and culture, or feast on local delicacies and cuisine.

We have countless reasons why we keep going back to Mexico for our retreats, and we wanted to share some of them with you!

We-love-mexico-retreats

WHY WE LOVE MEXICO

The ocean & beaches

Surely you can tell why we love hosting retreats in Mexico simply by looking at the photo above, right? Can anything beat that colour?

One of our favourite things about travelling to and hosting our Mexico retreats is the beautiful, clear waters you find off its shores and beaches. From the deep blue to the light turqoise, there is something special and serene about the waters of Mexico you just can't find elsewhere.

Mexico is home to some of the world's most beautiful beaches, and they are reason enough to want to visit. The beautiful white sand beaches of Mexico can be found all along the coastline and the country's magical scenery. Playa del Amor outside Puerto Vallarta, also known as Hidden Beach, and Playa Paraiso in Tulum have actually been named two of the top 50 beaches in the world!

The people & hospitality

Every time we travel to Mexico, whether that's Tulum on the Riviera Maya or Puerto Vallarta on the East Coast, we meet kind and helpful people who are willing to share their culture with us. Because of its friendly and open people, Mexico holds a special place in our hearts. There is no better way to get to know a place than to get to know the locals, and this is always easy on our Mexico retreats!

Meeting people who treat you like family the minute you meet makes you realise what a special culture you are experiencing, and will make you want to go back to Mexico time and time again.

med_res.jpeg

The history

Mexico's history dates back thousands of years, and continues to fascinate us every day. Getting to explore the heritage of the Mayans and the Aztecs, walking around the ruins of Tulum or learning about the history of Puerto Vallarta (it was a thriving village for centuries before tourists started to arrive) are some of our favourite ways to discover more about the history of the country.

Mexico has comprised many major civilizations throughout the centuries, that have all left their unique marks on the culture. The famous Chichen Itza is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, and across the Yucatán Peninsula you can visit villages where the indigenous Maya people share their cultural history.

The food

How can we write a list of why we love Mexico without mentioning the food? Across the world people love tacos, nachos and all kinds of Mexican food, but there is no better place to enjoy it than at its origin. Did you know that traditional Mexican cuisine actually has been deemed a cultural treasure by UNESCO. We aren't the only ones that love it!

The Instagrammable spots

There are countless spots in Mexico where you can get the perfect shot to share on the 'Gram, and that's one of the reasons we always have such a blast on our retreats there! When professional photographers and seasoned influencers get together, you know you're gonna get the shot - but when you add beautiful locations and super fun spots to shoot in, you've hit the jackpot! Our photos from our Mexico retreats are always full of life and colour!

As you can tell, we have our reasons for going back to Mexico for our retreats, and we've loved sharing them! Our retreats in Mexico bring together women to explore the vast history and culture of the country, learn from experts in the influencer and photography industry, and connect with likeminded women from all across the world!

THE BALI RETREAT 2018 - @WORLDLY.MAVEN'S EXPERIENCE

THE BALI RETREAT 2018 - @WORLDLY.MAVEN'S EXPERIENCE

Laura Abate shares her experience of the Pangea Dreams Bali Retreat in March 2018, and looks back at her journey towards becoming a full time content creator.

Travelling and discovering new cultures, healthy foods, and experiencing breathtaking views has been my passion for over a decade now, and I was always dreaming of my next destination. Instagram collections and Pinterest boards filled with blue oceans and epic sceneries are all I wanted to see. But like most people, with a University degree in hand, I went straight on the job market and I had been working the typical 9-to-5 office life. There was always that feeling like I needed more. Spending a lot of my time on Instagram, I came across accounts like Gypsea Lust and Do You Travel who were making a living out of travelling. That’s when I knew that is who I wanted to become! It combined my love for creative writing, photography, travel and having that social outlet gave a sense of community.

Arielle, Pam and Laura loving life at the Bali Retreat!

Arielle, Pam and Laura loving life at the Bali Retreat!

The turning point

A few months later, I handed in my letter of resignation and packed up my trusty backpack with cute outfits and more bathing suits than underwear! I was ready to start making a career out of my passion and getting collaborations with brands who wanted exposure in working with me. Easy enough right? But in just a short month, the high of the excitement died down, I felt uninspired, and worst of all, no contracts were coming in. That’s when the flood of self-doubt started. Maybe I wasn’t good enough after all? Where can I start making a name for myself?

Feeling lost and frustrated, that is when I happened across Pangea Dreams from one of my all-time favourite travel bloggers! Lisa Homsy was radiant under the Tulum sun and was living proof that my dreams can come true by joining this retreat. Pangea was the answer to my questions! I immediately reached out to some of the ladies on that retreat to get feedback and a sense of the whole experience. When I saw how much the lives of these women were affected and all the positive outcomes, I couldn’t wait to join! I primarily wanted to belong to a group of like-minded women who share the same goals and similar lifestyle. To top it off, Bali was my number one bucket list destination and when I found out Lisa would be a host on the retreat in March, it felt like it was just meant-to-be!

Fast-forward a few months later, and now I’m on a 24-hour journey to Bali – my first time in Asia! It was such a special time to have been there during Nyepi, the Balinese New Year, where they celebrate with a parade carrying giant statues in the streets that are meant to chase evil spirits away. Having Pamela, our own Indonesian, with us was also incredibly special as she was able to explain the culture and even teach us traditional Balinese dancing! We instantly bonded and spent the rest of the week virtually inseparable.

My first ever hike & a luxury hotel collaboration!

Hands-down, the highlight of the trip was, the day we woke up at 2 am to go hike up Mount Batur to catch the sunrise. It was the first hike of my life, and the feeling of making it up there was a testament to what I can achieve if I just push myself hard enough. All of us geared up in our Flexi-Lexi yoga wear, we were an unstoppable team! Getting up the mountain was no easy feat, but we were able to bond even more by encouraging each other to never give up. The view was so rewarding that I immediately forgot about my sore legs and just soaked everything in. Until we had to hike back down, and then my calves were a little less forgiving. But we didn’t stop there!

After that exhausting morning, it was still only 11’o’clock, so we headed towards the Kamandalu Resort for shooting in one of the most #viewgoals hotels in the world – with a floating breakfast!!! Add on the beautiful swing and it was pretty much the epitome of every Instagrammer’s fantasy embodied in this one afternoon.

Our next stop was the magical Tegalalang rice terraces for some more shooting and jaw-dropping views. When I look back, it’s crazy to think we got through all of this in a single day. Three breathtaking destinations, and oh so many more outfit changes! Honestly, the best part is that whenever I feel overwhelmed about having too much on my plate, I remember that day and know that I am capable of more than I initially think.  It was not just a highlight of the retreat, but memories I will cherish for a lifetime. I feel lucky to have a ton of gorgeous photos to remember that challenging day and the feeling of lying in bed exhausted that night knowing how thrilling and worth it all of it was.

My new-found family

It goes without saying that the Bali vibes are one of the factors that made this retreat special, but above all, it was the 13 lovely women I got to know and bond with during the week! Pangea Dreams in itself is special because these women became a family that continues to support each other even all the way across the globe. Each person brings a unique perspective and an expertise that can be shared, which adds an even greater value to the retreat’s workshops. We were lucky enough to be traveling with a life coach and were treated to an impromptu workshop focused on goal-setting. This changed my mindset into a state of clarity, avoiding procrastination and practicing self-gratitude, which has impacted my daily life ever since the retreat. It feels amazing to be a part of this inspiring community, and even if we didn’t join the same retreat, the Pangea alumni always welcome each other with open arms!

This testimonial would not be complete without giving a shout out to another exceptional woman I met thanks to Pangea Dreams. I feel so blessed to have met Arti, a fun-loving and kind-hearted spirit who quickly became my new travel bestie. Our values and sense of humour just aligned so perfectly, and we ended up travelling together for another three weeks around Bali and Singapore! I’m eternally grateful to have her in my life and for all the upcoming trips we’ll embark on together.

Having been surrounded by these amazing women who have been chasing their dreams and going for what they want with no reservations, really gave me a new sense of confidence. I had this irrational fear of rejection and completely undervalued my skillset, but after Pangea Dreams I am taking charge of my life and putting myself out there to grow my blog into a sustainable business. Thanks to this new-found confidence, I have already landed two collaborations with luxury villas in Thailand in just a few short weeks!!! Something I never thought would have been possible before.

Continuing to grow

In achieving the results that I had been struggling with, I am consistently gaining followers and continue to have the motivation to keep growing and following my passion! A big part of that comes from having Sam as a mentor and I truly feel lucky to have met such a beautiful soul. She has an endless energy, entertaining stories, and not to mention her awesome closet! Her passion for photography and Lightroom really resonated with me and now that I can better understand my camera, I am getting so much more content and from seeing photo opportunities differently. There has been an much more solid communication with my boyfriend, who shoots me most of the time, into achieving the look that I have in my mind.

My aesthetic and creative eye have definitely switched to create more of a visual storytelling in my images. Alongside Tracy’s expertise on branding, these workshops allowed me to narrow down exactly what I want to project to my followers, define my personal mission, and also to have a more consistent feed. I’m forever grateful for that week of personal development and the genuine friendships I’ve made along the way.

WHY WE LOVE BALI

WHY WE LOVE BALI

After hosting our first blogger retreat in Bali we've been back several times. The Bali retreat is super popular amongst both hosts and participants, and with good reason! There is just something about the spirit of this island that keeps us coming back. In 2018 we are hosting 2 retreats in Bali, and with one successfully completed together with a group of super inspiring boss babes (meet some of our alumni here!), we now look forward to the next one.

Join us in Bali in October!

Many travel bloggers, influencers and digital nomads flock to Bali to meet friends, relax, get some work done, or for exciting brand collaborations. You'll find communities of international visitors in Ubud, Canggu and other places on the island. Bali is such a gem, especially for aspiring influencers and inspiring boss babes, so we keep going back for more. So, since we will never tire of Bali, we decided to put together this post of just why we love this beautiful island.

WHY WE LOVE BALI

The spirit & nature

Bali is a special place, where culture, religion and nature all blend together. The people of Bali are some of the kindest you will meet, and their unique culture is fascinating and beautiful. In Bali you will find little handmade offerings wherever you go, locals that are more than happy to explain their traditions and let you partake in them, and breathtaking scenery surrounding you everywhere. The famous rice fields really are as stunning in real life as they look in photos, and Bali is home to some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

In Bali you can fall asleep to the sounds of nature and wake up with the sun, feeling relaxed and ready to take on a new day. The serenity surrounding you in this place makes it perfect for our retreats, especially since we love focusing on wellness and balance as well as information and knowledge! Anyone visiting will realise how special the spirit of Bali is.

The villas

Bali is famous for its many villas to rent, and it is more common to join your friends for a villa rental than staying in a hotel when visiting the island. The luxury villas in Bali makes our retreats extra special, as the girls sleep, eat, play and learn all under the same roof! Whether you want to be by the beach, close to the airport or in the middle of the rainforest - you'll be able to find a villa in Bali!

On our recent Bali retreat we stayed in Villa Atas Awan, and we had such an amazing time. If you book a stay with them, make use to quote discount code PANGEA10 for 10% off your booking! We loved staying there, and couldn't recommend it enough. Watch this space for a full review coming soon too!

Can you see why we loved it in this villa?

The brands

Another reason we love Bali is because the island is home to some really amazing brands, hotels and businesses! Every time we travel to Bali we discover new brands to shop or collaborate with. These collaborations are what makes all of our retreats so special, as each participant will be able to add international brands on their list of partners simply by going on a Pangea Dreams Retreat!

We love giving back and discovering local brands to work with, and Bali is an island full of inspiring and sustainable brands we are proud to work with and share with the girls on the retreat.

The memories

Seriously, all the beautiful memories we have made in Bali are reason enough to go back again and again. We have met countless amazing women, learned from established influencers, worked with amazing hotels and brands, and made memories to last a lifetime! Each retreat is different and special in its own way, and this is mainly because of the unique groups of women who have joined. We can't wait to make more memories in Bali in October, and in our future retreats on the island!

The bonding opportunities

When it comes to opportunities to bond with the other women on the retreat, Bali really brings it. From scouting out the best shooting locations at the rice terraces, to hiking Mount Batur at sunrise, the girls on the Bali retreat always leave with new, lifelong friendships in their pockets. Our Alumni is a family of inspiring go-getters, and the reason we are all so close is that we share memories and moments from the retreats that only a fellow Pangea babe can relate to. We love traveling to Bali because of all the little moments allowing the girls to bond and discover themselves by getting to know others.

Tell us; have you been to Bali? Is it on your list?
