Katie from @goalsbykate shares her experience of the Bali retreat in March 2018!
Why did you decide to join us on a retreat? What excited you most about the retreat?
I decided to join the Bali retreat because I realized that social media has more potential than people like to believe and because I knew the best way to realize that potential would be to learn about it from amazing creators like Tracy and Lisa. I was most excited for the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded women with goals and ambition.
What top 3 things did you learn while on the retreat?
Top 3 things I learned:
1. If you want to succeed, you need a strategy.
2. How to shoot in manual – literally a gram-changing skill.
3. Surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams and want to build you up.
How did your life change after the retreat?
My instagram following doubled and I’ve received several offers for collaborations. Better, I have an international community of strong women I can count on for support and someone to be a travel buddy.
Would you recommend the retreat to a friend or someone who is interested in joining us on a retreat?
I absolutely recommend the retreat to everyone. It was the best thing I’ve spent money on in 2018.
What was a highlight from your trip?
A highlight from the trip would have to be the day we spent collaborating with the Udaya. It was amazing to see what goes on behind-the-scenes in these travel hotel collaborations.
How has your blog or Instagram grown since the retreat?
My instagram following has doubled and my content is 300% better.
Did Pangea dreams set you up for success? What skills did you take away from the retreat?
I left with much improved lightroom editing skills, the ability to shoot in manual (a better understanding of what aperture, f-stop, ISO, and shutter speed mean), an actual strategy for my Instagram moving forward, and a better understanding of my long-term goals.
Which workshop was your fav and why?
My favorite workshop would have to be a tie between the shooting in manual workshop and the branding workshop.
Tell us about the photoshoots and content that was created while on the retreat!
I loved working with the photographer on the retreat and all the other girls to create content. It was literally non-stop. Obviously, there were specific times set-aside for photoshoots. But there were so many girls and we all just wanted to get the most amount of content that we were non-stop shooting each other.
Outline your fav day from the retreat. What did it consist of? Why was it your fav?
My favorite day from the retreat was also the busiest day of the retreat. We woke up at like 3am to hike Mount Batur at sunrise. Then we headed to the Udaya for a collaboration with, arguably, one of the most beautiful hotels in Bali. We were shooting for hours before heading to the Champung Ridgewalk to shoot at sunset. It was busy, crazy, jam-packed, and pretty much, absolutely amazing.
