Katie from @just_chasingsunsets shares her experience of the Puerto Vallarta retreat in May 2018!

Why did you decide to join us on a retreat? What excited you most about the retreat?

I stumbled upon Pange Dreams’ Instagram account about a year ago, and loved the content they were creating, so I started to follow them. As I did, I noticed they had retreats, yet as I was still working full-time, none of the retreat times fit in with my work schedule, so I just continued following along, wishing I could be a fly on the wall at one of the retreats. Then, I quit my job, decided to become a travel blogger, and decided it was time to attend a retreat. The timing worked out perfectly as I was already going to be in Mexico on that part of my travels! I was excited to finally see the behind the scenes of these women in action and learn how they monetized social media platforms to make traveling a sustainable lifestyle.

What top 3 things did you learn while on the retreat?

I learned how to build a media kit, how to reach out to hotels and brands, and most importantly that I already had all the tools – I just needed to use them.

How did your life change after the retreat?

When I returned from the retreat two weeks ago, I felt a focus and drive in my business that I never had before. Since then, I’ve developed and have started marketing an eBook and traveled to Cuba with a girl I met on retreat. The biggest thing for me, is that I feel connected to my purpose and I believe that I can accomplish my goals. It may not happen overnight, but I know that if I keep showing up daily, producing valuable content for my readers, and stretching myself creatively, I will get there!

What was a highlight from your trip?

The women on this retreat are amazing. I loved connecting with business women and seeing how their minds worked. I developed friendships with them that are lasting long after this retreat.

How has your blog or Instagram grown since the retreat?

I feel much more confident with Instagram now and I have noticed a steady increase in my engagement since I’ve returned from the retreat. My feed looks much more cohesive, and I have a clear message for my followers.

How did it feel to be surrounded by other likeminded women? How did that motivate you?

Since I quit my job to solo travel, I have felt a bit like I’m on an island. Many of my friends are starting families as I take my life in an unconventional direction, on top of that I am building my own business. While my friends and family are incredibly supportive, at times I feel like it would be nice to talk strategy with someone who is in the same field. I’m so glad that I have found that community in the ladies who attended Pangea!
